This year the festival’s retrospective and research programme will honour and celebrate women in cinema. Film directors, scriptwriters, editors, actresses – personalities, divas, legends. Those, who influenced the way we see cinema today. Those, without whom the history of cinema would be incomplete.
Film theoretician, Doctor of Arts, lecturer, culture journalist and film critic. After the graduation from the Moscow Film Institute (VGIK), developed several culture publications and worked as a reviewer and journalist at at the daily newspaper ‘Diena’. After earning her doctorate degree in the University of Latvia she lectures regularly at the Rīga Stradiņš University. She is an author and co-author of several books. Currently she heads the National Film Centre of Latvia, responsible for implementing the national policy in cinema.
