Riga downtown boy Jacob has to spend a week with his bossy cousin Mimmi and very busy uncle Eagle in the Maskachka suburb of the city. The boy soon discovers that in this unusual place the local dogs can talk! But the greedy Imants Rausis wants to turn this romantic district into an impersonal skyscraper area. Will the kids and talking dogs manage to team up and save the neighborhood?

Based on the acclaimed book The Story of Maskačka by the Latvian writer Luīze Pastore, this is artist-director Edmunds Jansons’ first feature film. With zero didacticism, trusting the youngest viewers, Jansons, together with his team, has brought to life a witty fable about the importance of cooperation and togetherness. Urbanism and the environment are important subjects in the film – who will take care of it if we turn away from our own future?
