The festival\u2019s curators select 35 of the most interesting submissions from around the world.<\/p>\n<h5 style=\"text-align: center;\">Entries<\/h5>\n<p>We welcome short films with a running time of up to 30 minutes and the completion date no earlier than 1 January 2019. We especially encourage Baltic filmmakers and artists to apply \u2013 both professionals and students \u2013 as we believe that our region\u2019s films look great in an international milieu!<\/p>\n<h5 style=\"text-align: center;\">Prize<\/h5>\n<p>The selected short film titles are evaluated by an international jury consisting of industry experts, theoreticians, filmmakers, and representatives of the international film festival community.<br \/>\nThe award \u2013 \u201cSilver Grass-snake\u201d (a silver pin featuring the Latvian symbol for a grass-snake) \u2013 is presented to the film that elicits the liveliest discussions and generates the greatest passion about the very fabric of cinema. The winner is also awarded a monetary prize of EUR 1000. The Awards Ceremony takes place on the second Saturday of the festival.<\/p>\n<h5 style=\"text-align: center;\">Candidacy for the Award \u201cEuropean Short Film 2021\u201d<\/h5>\n<p>From the films screened at SHORT RIGA International Competition, the jury selects a single candidacy for the award \u201cEuropean Short Film 2021.\u201d Eligible are directors born in Europe or with a European passport (Europe as undestood in the sense of the European Film Academy, meaning both EU and non-EU, and including Israeli and Palestinian passport holders) whose films were produced in 2020 or 2021, and do not exceed a running time of 30 min.<\/p>\n<h5 style=\"text-align: center;\">Deadline<\/h5>\n<p>The call for submissions opens on 19 March 2020 and closes on 1 July 2020.
