RIGA IFF on the Platform is a special musical experience — a night of film music to celebrate the festival’s tenth anniversary!

On 14 October, which is the first Saturday of the festival, artist, musician and film music composer Alex Zhang Hungtai will perform at Hanzas Perons, while electronic music duo Giant Swan will keep the night going as DJs.

Hungtai has released four albums under the stage name Dirty Beaches, and he performed as part of the band Trouble in David Lynch’s 2017 TV series Twin Peaks. His voice and lo-fi aesthetic rhythms are at the heart of the soundtrack of last year’s RIGA IFF main competition winner Godland.

Wire magazine describes the duet Giant Swan as “two punk kids who cracked the rave code by accident, and they’re having a fine time”. Their music can be heard in the film Eternal Daughter, starring Tilda Swinton, which has been included in this year’s festival.
