Jason and Kevin, two bored young men in a Belgian village, are looking for the unusual. Recently, rumours have been circulating that Mister Ping’s exotic birds have escaped into the wild. No one knows what happened to them. Maybe suicide; or maybe they’ve had enough of Mister Ping. The two boys decide to find them. Along the way they befriend a crazy professor and encounter the curiosities of the bird menu and the secrets of a Chinese restaurant.

This retro-style animated film may lead one to reminisce about the brainless stoners Beavis and Butt-Head – if their offspring, unbeknownst to them, had moved to Europe and taken up looking for missing birds. That notwithstanding, with his nuanced sense of humour Nicolas Keppens has created a melancholic story of a toxic friendship clothed in a weathered comic aesthetics.
