Lucy likes Anton, and Anton likes Lucy. In a manner akin to a Wes Anderson film, both exchange messages through gaps in the door, eagerly awaiting their date. While toying with shrimp at the dinner table, Anton reveals that he has AIDS. Lucy tries to deal with this and what she knows of deadly viruses.
Under these misleading plot elements – two people, one diner, prejudices, and some seafood – German director Marleen Valien hides a captivating story about living with an illness, which recalls the best work of American comedy director Nora Ephron. Having screened and received awards at the Tribeca Film Festival, in Dresden, Maryland and elsewhere, this film is slowly gaining a festival following.
