Once upon a time, there was a girl who was always busy. She would hold her phone for hours, eagerly devouring every image, colour, and shape with her eyes. Soon, she no longer noticed the world beyond the screen – no space adventures, no amusement parks, no colourful passers-by. How can her attentive gaze be turned towards the beautiful and exciting things that go unnoticed?
This short film by the experienced Portuguese illustrator, animator, and director Carrilho has captivated audiences at festivals in Annecy, Lisbon, Seoul, Zlín, and more. The filmmaker, whose work has been featured in The New York Times, The New Yorker, Vanity Fair, and elsewhere, presents a subtly ironic miniature about the presence of small screens and the youngest among us.
