Young ice-cream vendor and techno musician Max embarks on an introspective journey before taking to the stage – where so far insecurity, fear and the frosty presence of Alex, the guardian of loneliness, have dominated, he suddenly meets the charming choir conductor Helena, who not only manages to protect Max from Alex’s persecution, but also helps him regain confidence in his abilities.

For a decade he has been a member of the indie music band Carnival Youth, whose active touring life has taken them to over 600 concerts in more than 30 countries, and whose creative process has also sparked an interest in cinema. Since 2020 Roberts has been studying film directing at the Latvian Academy of Culture. Among his film works are the short children’s film The Secret Code of the Fox, documentary shorts A Lifetime for Ballet and Silent Tank, as well as the experimental short film Center Fugue (8mm), which was screened in 8 countries, including the USA and Canada. Now Roberts is preparing to graduate from the National Film School of the Latvian Academy of Culture with the short film North Pole.
Emīls Alps is a film director and producer who received his BA in film directing from the National Film School of the Latvian Academy of Culture in 2022. He is currently working at the Latvian Puppet Theater as a video artist, as well as writing, producing, directing and editing multiple personal projects. He has written, directed and produced several short films and a feature-length documentary. His debut film Choir. Conductor. Kamēr… held its premiere at the 2019 Riga International Film Festival and won the Latvian National Film Award Lielais Kristaps in the category Debut of the Year. He has received 2 more Latvian National Film Award nominations for the short fiction film Mia (2021) and short documentary Renaissance Man (2022). During this time, Emīls started his production company Neonorma.
Nikola Ozola studies the Production of Audiovisual and Performing Arts at the Latvian Academy of Culture. She currently works at the Riga International Film Festival and as well as the Latvian music management company Every Little Thing. Nikola’s two latest films as a producer have been part of the Latvian Television’s acclaimed Latvian Code series of documentaries. Her bachelor film North Pole will be the producer’s third short film.
