Anica (60) resists her ongoing chemotherapy while perceiving her daughter’s care as an assault on her dignity. Vlatko (60) is an alcoholic and a loner, completely written off by his work colleagues. Filled with mutual contempt, Anica and Vlatko separated long ago and seemingly no longer communicate. On their drawn-out paths toward oblivion, they search for an ally who will hear their desperate cry for the will to live.

Sonja Tarokić is the writer and director of several short films (You Bitch!, I’m a Self-Made Woman, On Shaky Ground), while her debut feature The Staffroom premiered at the Karlovy Vary International Film Festival in 2021. She works as a film director and has published several film theory essays. She now teaches film directing at the Zagreb Academy and mentors several local scriptwriting workshops for short and feature films.
Rea Rajčić (Split, 1989) earned her master’s degree in film production at the Academy of Dramatic Arts in Zagreb, Croatia. She worked as marketing manager for the 2i Film distribution company and as head of the Cinema Exhibition Department project at the Croatian Audiovisual Centre. She currently works on new film and TV projects at her production company Eclectica (as producer and author) and teaches at the Production Department of the Academy of Dramatic Arts in Zagreb. She won the Young Producer award at Sofia International Film Festival 2016 and received awards for best pitching at European Short Pitch 2018, Connecting Cottbus 2020, and CineMart IFFR 2022. In 2020, she participated in the Emerging Producers program and Rotterdam Lab, and in the Producer’s Room at Cannes SFC. Her directorial debut short documentary 1001 Nights was shown in the official competition program of TIFF 2023. She lives and works in Zagreb, Croatia.
