RIGA IFF Accreditations Terms of Use

These terms determine the procedures and conditions for the purchase, application, receipt and use of accreditations and subscriptions sold, granted and issued by the Riga International Film Festival (hereinafter referred to as “the Festival”). These terms apply to the following types of accreditations and subscriptions for the 2024 festival:

    • Festival Pass
    • Festival & Forum Pass
    • Forum Pass
    • Media Pass

By purchasing, applying for or receiving any of the above-mentioned accreditations, you confirm that you have read and agree to these terms.

Terminology used in these Terms of Use:

    • accreditation – rights purchased by a physical or legal entity or granted by the Festival to the holder of the accreditation to attend the Festival in accordance with these terms;
    • accreditation ticket – a festival film screening ticket issued with accreditation, confirming the reservation of a numbered or unnumbered seat at the location of the film screening (cinema hall);
    • accreditation card – a special plastic card issued by the Festival, which contains information about the type of accreditation, the holder of the Accreditation, as well as the barcode and the code for collecting the accreditation tickets;
    • accreditation holder – a physical person who has registered their purchased paid accreditation with Eventival, or to whom the accreditation has been granted for free by the Festival;
    • type of accreditation – a group of accreditations that have identical terms of use and privileges;
    • Eventival – a guest management software used by the Festival, where accreditations are submitted, registered and managed;
    • the Festival – the Riga International Film Festival, which takes place from 17.10.2024. until 27.10.2024;
    • industry events – closed events intended for representatives of the cinema industry in accordance with the RIGA IFF Forum event plan (forum.rigaiff.lv), which are available only to holders of specific types of accreditation;
    • industry representative – a professional or student of the cinema industry who meets the criteria specified in the section “Representatives of the Industry”;
    • paid accreditation – a Festival Pass, Festival & Forum Pass, and Forum Pass, which a person has purchased for a price determined by the Festival;
    • public film screenings – film screenings organized by the Festival, for which anyone can purchase entrance tickets.

General terms regarding accreditations

Irrespective of the type of accreditation granted, purchased or received, the following terms shall apply, insofar as these terms do not specify a different procedure:

    • Only the holder of the accreditation is entitled to use the privileges granted by the accreditation. Transfer of accreditation or an accreditation card to other persons is prohibited.
    • The accreditation is valid from 17.10.2024. until 27.10.2024., inclusive, and can be used to visit festival film screenings and other events.
    • By redeeming 1 (one) accreditation (except the Forum Pass) the holder can collect one accreditation ticket for any public screening of a film, except for the opening night of the festival and the closing ceremony.
    • Holders of the Festival Pass accreditation can collect 1 (one) accreditation ticket for the opening night and the closing ceremony of the Festival.
    • Accreditation tickets can be collected from the moment one receives an accreditation card.
    • When attending a film screening, the holder of the accreditation must present both – their accreditation card and the accreditation ticket.
    • The number of accreditation tickets available for each of the film screenings is limited.
    • The holders of the Festival & Forum Pass and the Forum Pass accreditations have the right to attend industry events in accordance with the event program indicated on the festival website (forum.rigaiff.lv).
    • When visiting the Festival, the holder of the accreditation must observe the rules of the Festival venues and the generally accepted standards of conduct and ethics.

Accreditation cards can be collected from 17.10.2024. at the Festival’s information centre during working hours.

Special terms regarding the types of accreditations

Festival Pass special terms

The Festival Pass is a paid accreditation that can be purchased on the Festival’s website (www.rigaiff.lv) or at Biļešu serviss points of sale. This accreditation may be granted free of charge by the Festival at its discretion.

After purchasing the Festival Pass, the holder of the accreditation must authorize the purchase via Eventival (https://vp.eventival.com/rigaiff/2024), and:

    • if the holder is going through the authorization process for the first time:
        • they must register and fill in the necessary personal and contact information about the accreditation holder;
        • upload a photo of themselves where the face of the accreditation holder is clearly visible;
        • register the paid accreditation they purchased;
    • if the holder has authorized before:
        • they must review and, if necessary, update the personal and contact information about the accreditation holder;
        • make sure that the face of the credential holder is clearly visible in the photo and reupload a new photo if necessary;
        • register the purchased paid accreditation.

The following special terms shall apply to the Festival Pass accreditation:

    • The holder of the Festival Pass paid accreditation type has the right to use the ticket code obtained at the time of purchase of the accreditation to collect the accreditation tickets before receipt of the accreditation card;
    • The Festival Pass accreditation allows the holder to withdraw 1 (one) accreditation ticket for any public film screening, including the Festival’s opening night and closing ceremony.

Festival & Forum Pass special terms

The Festival & Forum Pass is a paid accreditation type for industry representatives. It allows the holder to attend public film screenings (except the festival’s opening night and closing ceremony) and industry events. The holder can apply for the pass via Eventival. This accreditation may be granted free of charge by the Festival at its discretion.

An industry representative can apply for accreditation until 14.10.2024. by logging into their Eventival user account (https://vp.eventival.com/rigaiff/2024), and:

    • if the holder is going through the authorization process for the first time:
        • they must register and fill in the necessary personal and contact information about the accreditation holder;
        • upload a photo of themselves where the face of the accreditation holder is clearly visible;
        • apply for accreditation in the “Accreditations” module and indicate their professional background;
    • if the holder has authorized before:
        • they must review and, if necessary, update the personal and contact information about the accreditation holder;
        • make sure that the face of the credential holder is clearly visible in the photo and reupload a new photo if necessary;
        • apply for accreditation in the “Accreditations” module and indicate their professional background.

After applying for accreditation, the Festival shall examine each application individually within five days, assessing the accreditation holder’s compliance with the status of an industry representative. If the status is granted, the Festival shall send the accreditation holder the necessary information to make the accreditation payment. The accreditation holder must then make this payment within three days. If the accreditation payment isn’t made within the specified term, the accreditation application is considered void.

If an accreditation application is rejected, the Festival shall notify the applicant of its decision. The Festival has the right to reject accreditation without the need to justify its decision.

Forum Pass special terms

Forum Pass is a paid accreditation type for industry representatives to attend only the industry events and can be applied for via Eventival. This accreditation may be granted free of charge by the Festival at its discretion.

An industry representative can apply for the Forum Pass accreditation until 23.10.2024. by logging into their Eventival user account (https://vp.eventival.com/rigaiff/2024), and:

    • if the holder is going through the authorization process for the first time:
        • they must register and fill in the necessary personal and contact information about the accreditation holder;
        • upload a photo of themselves where the face of the accreditation holder is clearly visible;
        • apply for accreditation in the “Accreditations” module and indicate their professional background;
    • if the holder has authorized before:
        • they must review and, if necessary, update the personal and contact information about the accreditation holder;
        • make sure that the face of the credential holder is clearly visible in the photo and reupload a new photo if necessary;
        • apply for accreditation in the “Accreditations” module and indicate their professional background.

After applying for accreditation, the Festival reviews each application individually within five days, assessing the applicant’s compliance with the status of an industry representative. If the status is granted, the Festival sends the applicant information about the accreditation payment. The applicant must make this payment within three days. If the payment is not made within the specified period, the accreditation application is considered void.

If an accreditation application is rejected, the Festival notifies the applicant of its decision. The Festival has the right to reject accreditation without the need to justify its decision.

Media Pass special terms

The Media Pass is a free accreditation type intended only for media representatives.

Media representatives can apply for the Media Pass accreditation until 01.10.2024. on the Festival’s website (rigaiff.lv), by filling out the application form. The Festival shall decide whether to grant or refuse the accreditation by 07.10.2024. The Festival has the right to reject accreditation without the need to justify its decision.

Upon receipt of accreditation confirmation, approved Media Pass holders must register via Eventival by following the instructions provided in the confirmation email.

Industry representatives

Within the context of these terms industry representatives shall mean, inter alia, the following categories of film industry professionals:

    • an actor;
    • an author, director, screenwriter;
    • a film festival;
    • a film financier;
    • a film library, archive or restoration center;
    • a film rights holder;
    • a film school and its students;
    • a book publisher or agent;
    • a guild or professional association;
    • a distributor;
    • a casting agency;
    • a cinema owner, chairperson or manager;
    • a musician (composer, performer, author, producer);
    • a producer;
    • a creative agency;
    • a sales agent;
    • a television distributor;
    • online film platforms.

The Festival reserves the right to evaluate each application individually and determine whether a person may receive industry representative status.

Action in case of term violation

If the Festival detects a violation of these terms, venue rules, or general norms of public conduct, it reserves the right to confiscate the accreditation card and may choose to either warn the accreditation holder or cancel their accreditation altogether.

The Festival shall notify the holder of the accreditation card of its decision to either warn the holder or cancel the accreditation via the e-mail address specified on Eventival.

If a paid accreditation holder violates these terms, the accreditation holder loses the right to receive a refund for the purchased accreditation.

Other terms

These terms are drawn up in Latvian and English. In the event of any contradiction between the original and the translation, the Latvian version shall prevail.

The Festival reserves the right to change these terms without separately notifying the accreditation holders. The current version of these terms is available on the Festival’s website (www.rigaiff.lv) and on Eventival.

The Festival shall inform holders of paid accreditations, or persons who have purchased accreditations via the ticket service Biļešu serviss, of any changes affecting the specific purchased paid accreditations and the privileges they grant, via the email addresses provided by these individuals. If changes to these terms reduce the privileges of an accreditation, the person who purchased the specific accreditation has the right to apply for a full refund. A refund request must be submitted within 14 calendar days from the day the person receives notification of the changes to these terms.
