A story of different borders – physical, state-imposed, those created by the mind. These are captured in a visual diary, travelling through the borderland of Latvia, Russia, and Belarus. One situation has led to another, progressively expanding the context of ideological fronts at the borders of the European Union and Russia – highlighting the historical contradictions between Latvia and Russia.

In this conceptually capacious documentary two main protagonists come to the forefront – Ansis Ataols Bērziņš, who was in custody in Latvia during the making of the film, and the National Bolshevik activist Beness Aijo, who went to Eastern Ukraine to join the Russian fighters. Set against the backdrop of the war in Ukraine and the sociopolitical context of Latvia, this is a poignant piece that encompasses painful and acute historical, ideological, and physical topographies.
