Breathing Into Marble

Director: Giedrė Beinoriūtė
LT, LV, HR 201897 min. 0 sec.
Izabelė and Liudas, live in their rural house with their son Gailius, who suffers from epilepsy. One day Izabelė talks her husband into adopting six-year-old Ilja, a headstrong yet withdrawn little boy from a children’s home. With the arrival of the new addition, family life starts to change drastically for all of them…  This psychological drama by debuting filmmaker Giedrė Beinoriūtė is an adaptation of the award-winning novel of the same name by Laura Sintija Černiauskaitė. Using an economical but highly effective approach, the director ramps up the tension, using masterful mise-en-scène. Beinoriūtė states: “Breathing into Marble” is about an attempt to warm up stone. It may be impossible, but it’s worth trying.”
