Having won the Palme d’Or at the Cannes Short Film Competition in 2020, this film by Brussels-based Egyptian director Sameh Alaa has been a worldwide success. The director does not fully explain the plot of the short film, leaving it up to the viewer to decipher whether the situation is due to the prejudices of Egyptian society or the pandemic. “Your imagination is always stronger than the image that is offered to you,” suggests Alaa.
