Emily is an 8-year-old Texan who wants to be the best cheerleader in the entire state. Her family has been hunting for generations, collecting “trophies” and displaying them on their living room walls. In wanting to sweep well and far away her status as the youngest member of the family, Emily prepares for her first hunt – and hopefully, her first “trophy”.
This jointly made documentary by Belgian filmmakers Griet Goelen and Louise van Assche is a commentary on animal hunting, a coming-of-age story, and a depiction of how much we depend on what is an integral part of our parental and familial identity.
