Maya takes her parents and sister to the desert to film them for yet another film. The filming degenerates into a never-ending family argument and it is unclear whether they will manage to cooperate and find a common language. In paralell, suggestions of the perepetual Israeli-Palestinian conflict are evoked.

This meta-fiction film brings to mind Jafar Panahi’s road movies that have been created in a closed and at times claustrophobically constricted environment. Here, the constrictions and sense of doom arise from the monotony of the desert. The Tel Aviv-born director Maya Yadlin  succeeds in drawing parallels between the film crew and her family as they agonize and try to find the joy of being together while recalling traumas of the past.
