A father wants to see his son as a driver and the world of car racing opens up in a surreal and naive explosion of colours. The son cannot lose, even if it involves metamorphoses and a “fast and furious” mentality set by the father.
Talented Estonian animator Sander Joon has determinedly found a place for himself in international animation, while continuing working in the Estonian tradition of absurdist lyricism. This work about parental expectations, born from autobiographical impulses (it includes animated fragments of Joon’s father), screened at the Clermont-Ferrand Festival, won an award at the SHORT RIGA Test Screenings in 2021, is currently playing in festivals around the world, and has qualified for the Academy Awards.
