THE SILENT SHORE

Sophia and Roman are Ukrainian theatre artists who have grown emotionally distant, struggling to balance ambition, parenthood, and family life. When war begins, Sophia flees to Latvia with their daughters, where isolation forces her to confront the loss of her identity, while Roman remains in Kyiv, watching his life’s work reshaped by war. Through their parallel journeys, they reevaluate what truly matters and begin finding their way back to themselves and each other.

Iryna Asonova is a Ukrainian filmmaker, writer-director, and producer. Her work explores memory, displacement, and human connection through a distinctive visual language. As a producer, she works primarily on international co-productions. She is developing her debut feature, The Silent Shore.

Jānis Kalējs has over 25 years of film industry experience in Latvia and Canada and is a founder of Film Angels Studio. He has produced, co-produced, and serviced international productions from Europe, North America, and Asia, and represents the Film Service Producers Association of Latvia.
