An English man moves to Latvia with his wife, shortly after they have their first child, she passes away. He decides to stay in order to raise the child as close to how he and his wife intended. With this, come the struggles of single parenthood and living in a foreign country.

Beate studied Advertising Design at Liepaja School of Music, Art and Design graduating in 2015. She moved to the United Kingdom to pursue a career in film making studying a BA in Film Production at Solent University Southampton. “Unfamiliar” was her film directing debut. Beate’s work, in general, takes a broad inspiration from the slow cinema genre and she places heavyweight to the emotions that a piece of work she is producing makes her feel. She is also one of the writers and producers of the film.
