As RIGA IFF pays special attention to animation, we offer you to watch some screen-stories that come to life in animated characters. This series of special screenings is devoted to adult animation, highlighting European and American filmmakers, their trademarks and unpredictable characters.
A special screening of Bill Plympton’s Cheatin’ (2013) will be held. Plympton, a long-time creative confederate of Signe Baumane, turns a love story into a surreal travel in body and imagination. In addition, we offer a selection of seven short films created by some of the most notable female directors from France and Belgium. This series is held in collaboration with the French Association for Animated Film (AFCA).
Both screenings are a part of Baltic Animation Meet-Up (BAMU) organized in collaboration with Latvian Animation Association. The programme is supported by the Ministry for Europe and Foreign Affairs of France and the Institut Français, as part of the strategy to promote French Cultural and Creative Industries internationally.
