Lost in Snow

Zuduši sniegā
Directed by: Vladimir Leschiov
LV/SE 20078'

It is deep winter, and a man sits silently on the ice, fishing. His stubborn attempts are interrupted by flashes of consciousness, images of strange figures and the inexorable spring. And the man’s mind slowly begins to flow like the ice…

These absurdist miniature drawings were created on celluloid, a form that has almost been forgotten in animation. Vladimir Leschiov, who usually draws by hand, believes that it is precisely this that makes animation a personal artform. In this short, the Daugavpils-born artist philosophises about nature, about how the climate and living conditions shape a person’s character and behaviour.
