Four creatures in a world without water. One of them looks like a crow, while the other one reminds of a wolf, but the third one – of a fox. And then there is the fourth one, quite similar to a frog. In their search for a place to quench their thirst, the four embark on an odyssey which will transform their images and will allow them to reflect on the infinite and the living through their colors, shapes and being.
Croatian director Dea Jagić, working in techniques of stop-motion and pixilation, has created a vivid form of animation. The mix of plasticine, live-action insertions and inclusions of graphics has resulted in a Kafkaesque reflection on one’s codependency with nature. The artist, having previously worked in fields of design, illustration and cinema, has now shifted her focus toward the anthropomorph. However, she does so, looking at it from the perspective of the mythical and eco-criticism.
