RIGA IFF 2019 takes place from 17 to 27 October. The festival opens with a screening of the internationally acclaimed Latvian animated feature film “Away” (dir. Gints Zilbalodis), while “Nova Lituania” (dir. Karolis Kaupinis, LT) winsthe Feature Film Competition.
“Uncle Thomas, accounting for the days” (dir. Regina Pessoa, CA/PT/FR) wins the SHORT RIGA International Competition, and is the first film selected by RIGA IFF to be the candidate for Best Short Film at the European Film Awards. The festival screens a total of 148 films.
Events at the festival intended for the industry include hosting the Board of the European Film Academy, the first-ever Baltic Animation Meet-up, and the launch of a new cooperation with the Investment and Development Agency of Latvia (LIAA) by organising the Magnetic Latvia Film Conference.
