RIGA IFF is looking for new film horizons across the ocean, so a new Canadian film selection is created in collaboration with the Montreal International Film Festival Festival du nouveau cinéma.
Our new Canadian friends praise the spirit of good company, revelry and fun. They believe that film isn’t something to be kept cloistered in an ivory tower – it needs to be viewed and discussed. There’s nothing more important than keeping the flame alive!
The Festival du nouveau cinéma seeks out new developments that move cinema forward, familiarizing audiences with 3D, VOD, a whole spectrum of different formats and the latest creative findings. Both they and we believe that festival is the best place around to preview the cinema of tomorrow! Those are films that make your heart race, bowl you over and change your life. Films that reveal how diverse moving image can be. Since its foundation in 1971, the festival has introduced audiences to auteur filmmakers like Atom Egoyan, Denis Villeneuve, Guy Maddin, Jim Jarmusch, Jane Campion, Alfonso Cuaron, Wong Kar-wai and Raymond Depardon.
