A fantasy about being. Something bursts out of an explosion of nothingness. Creatures emerge from a dark tarry mass – genderless, connected, and unconnected, moving aimlessly. It all changes when one of these creatures discovers something new within its being – it pulls a small red ball out of itself. The ball grows bigger, changes shape, and hypnotizes the others.
Animated ecstasy – a visual pleasure of intense colour, form, shifting shape, movement, pulsation. The Polish animator Maria Nitek shows hierophany, or the manifestation of the sacred, finding inspiration in philosopher Mircea Eliade’s work. This interplay of organs and organisms still hypnotises long after the final credits and leads to thoughts about what is it that has been born? The world? Religion? Myth? Humans?
