Jalte spends most of his time in his room, where his virtual reality glasses bring him to digital worlds. In his loneliness, he creates the perfect woman, Selina. Not only is the AI companion designed to become his perfect soulmate, it actually becomes one. Indeed, their relationship deepens so much that the line between artificial intimacy and real human connection begins to blur and Jalte can no longer take off his glasses.

If artificial intelligence can adapt to our expectations of a partner, is it enough for the relationship to be a real one? This is the question Gunderlund Dall asks his audience, contemplating about the contemporary symptoms of today. The film merges the live-action film with a simulative aesthetic of the virtual reality, placing the viewer at the viewpoint of the protagonist (played by Hampus Egelund). This film, which investigates introspection via “artificial intimacy” and alienation, was premiered in the Fantasia International Film Festival in Montreal.
