cetuAs they say, it takes two to tango, to make a crowd, a world or a connection.
The protagonist of Soulmate finds, or rather creates his match in a virtual reality. The two girls of 2:Love need a tennis match to find passion between passing shots. Two is the number for fearful symmetries for a haunting father-and-son relationship in The Fade of the Day and for an eye-opening session between an ophthalmologist and his psychiatrist (played by famous Romanian director Radu Jude) in Out of Character.
A “take two” is of course a familiar sound on the film set of Tuesday or Thursday but its exhausted producer prefers to stick to a new one – the music she hears in her head, possibly the sound of freedom. And a “take two”, as a second act or chance, is definitely required when you want to restage nostalgia and memories in Pacific Islands (through roleplaying) and Room174 (through AI).
Foreword by the programme curator: Films about duality, dyads, duets, dialogues and the possibility of a second chance.
