An unforgettable sleuthing tale of a sister and brother, with dazzling animated interludes. This playful and wise piece about acceptance and the power of togetherness was created by Latvian film artists, among others. The greatest adventure of the little detectives is about to begin!
Ten-year-old Alisa knows what it means to be a sister, because she has a brother. Alisa longs for her parents’ attention, since their care is focused on her elder brother Milan – he experiences the world differently, always wears a hat, and knows all the straightest lines. His favourite pastime is drawing lines with a pen across completely blank sheets of paper. Soon the family moves from the city to the countryside. Unexpectedly, the parents need rescuing, so brother and sister must team up with local detectives to unravel the mystery.
Off we go – the stars here are friendship, an adventurous spirit, a rich, tumultuous plot and a vibrancy the detective genre has never seen before! This film by Croatian director Škop and Slovak director Raýmanová had its world premiere at the Malmö International Film Festival BUFF. Captivating audiences of all ages, the film speaks of friendship, mutual trust and accepting our differences – otherness is not an obstacle, but rather a means of resolving even the most complicated situations. The film is co-created by film studios from five countries, including Riga-based Air Productions.
Foreword by the programme curator: What is the best way to tell a story about your brother with superpowers? Dipping all your fingers into paint cans and heading out on an adventure!
