Zakrpa Directed by: Luka Galešić
Produced by: Inja Korać, Cobra Chicks Zagreb
HR 2026 11' hr

Iva, aged 22, lives with her mother Davorka in a small apartment. The walls are so tight that both women can barely breath – both physically and psychologically. Panic attacks have begun. One of them wants to be independent, while the other – to be always present and caring, almost controlling. This love, however, is of the codependent type: Iva finds herself unable to be free from her mother’s involvement in every aspect of her life, while Davorka cannot imagine her life without her daughter.

The outside is the reflection of the inside and vice versa. In his short film Croatian director, Luka Galešić, analyzes how women of different generations, worldviews and cultural experiences can co-exist in a tight space. By anticipating a conflict where one has to emerge, he applies empathy and the nonchalance of the dramedy genre to allow the actresses Lana Barić and Tea Ljubešić to truly shine. Galešić has studied journalism, drama arts and film directing in Zagreb, and is now working on his first feature film, Victoria.
