Lisa has met someone special. Wanting to make an impression, the girl lies and says she speaks Vietnamese – the language her family once spoke, but now it sounds foreign even to herself. With only a week left until the date, the lie turns into both a frantic crash course in the language and an unexpected journey into her own past.

Gervat is a French animation director, animator and illustrator, and in this film she explores cultural identity with humour, rom-com lightness and personal experience. The short film has been screened at a number of international festivals, including winning the audience award at the Rennes festival.
