Lisa has met someone special. Wanting to make an impression, the girl lies and says she speaks Vietnamese – the language her family once spoke, but now it sounds foreign even to herself. With only a week left until the date, the lie turns into both a frantic crash course in the language and an unexpected journey into her own past.
With lightness, humour and shōjo anime aesthetic about love, the search for belonging, and the awkward paths back to what we once lost. Gervat is a French animation director, animator and illustrator, and in this film she explores cultural identity with humour, rom-com lightness and personal experience.
