Dream Up The Title

Tytuł się jeszcze przyśni Directed by: Klaudia Fortuniak
Produced by: Polish National Film School in Łódź, Amondo
PL 2025 20' pl

Satin bedsheets do not help to doze off and the sleep seems to be far away. Malgorzata suffers from insomnia – in order to fall asleep, she has to wake up. The girl rushes out of her apartment and begins to wander around her town that has no rivers or streams. After breaking up with her beloved, she misses her journey so that she could be looking for the lost rivers – the wrong time was announced in her dream. She does find the rivers, but still finds no sleep.

Screened at the Rotterdam International Film Festival and others, this short fiction film by Klaudia Fortuniak plays with ideas about states of wakefulness and consciousness and cinema as an oneiric experience. The film is dedicated to the generation stuck between youth and maturity and haunted by fear and to the city of Łódź (meaning “boat” in Polish) that was once full of waters but is now filled with industrial and urban rhythms. The rivers of Łódź – one of the most important cities in European cinema – are silent. As the director explains, “I was lied to in a dream about the hour and ended up being late to every place I had planned to reach.”
