“Pacific Islands sound better,” says the stranger. A couple of hours ago, he and a woman met each other in a hotel. Here, everything seems so familiar, yet strange, and right here important events of the past took place. When the past begins to mirror itself, the meeting takes an unexpected turn.
Memory is a continent. It is also the land in which the awarded director, Adas Burksaitis, feels at home. All of his films – both Left-Handed Pen (2024), screened at RIGA IFF, and On Purpose (2023) – plays with sentiment, signs of recognition and overlapping events. Dipping each frame in the past as if it were a shell-shaped madeleine, Burksaitis is interested in stories that we choose to remember. In this film, we once again see the actress Rasa Samuolytė.
