Night in Tartu. Maarja, aged 57, former violinist of punk-rock band Vennaskond, is an embodiment of the town’s bohemian spirit. She becomes witness to the unrest of the night, the karaoke singers in Punk Museo shirts and waltzing of events that go against any rules. The partiture of the dark of the night is complemented with the sounds of nature and rustling of River Emajegi.

This is an atmospheric portrait of the town and the spirit of the night that refuses to fade away. Laanet, currently a documentary cinema student in Baltic Film, Media and Art School in Tallinn, explores in his study work the phenomena of the student town of Tartu and band Vennaskond. Founded in 1984, this Estonian punk band is among the most important ones in the history of Estonian popular music. The band has released 20 albums and has become an integral part of the history of Estonian culture. In 1992, it released a song titled “Riia Mu Arm” – “Riga, My Love”.
