It’s 1986. Eight-year old Sanny tries to understand why there are so many problems in this world. The radio broadcasts news about the Chornobyl disaster, sometimes an air alarm can be heard. Almost 40 years later, she is a photographer called Sandra. She lives in the countryside with her partner and deaf daughter. Sandra still hears the news about war, destruction and horror. Although everything is alright in her own life, she still feels the desire to indulge in the destruction and jump.

Balancing on the line between a fiction film and form of a diary – this might be the best way to describe Reitzer’s “calling” which organically resonates with Mascha Schilinski’s Sound of Falling (2025) and analysis of narratives of micro-history. Shot on a 16 mm and Video8, this movie has the distinct, slide-like fade. The sun illuminates both the illusory togetherness and the desire to break free from the axiom of “everything is fine”. The film has been included in the competition of Vienna Shorts and Oberhausen International Short Film Festival.
