Jānis Ābele is a Riga-based filmmaker and screenwriter. His graduation film Six Feet Above was awarded the Grand Prix at the 33rd International Short FF Tous Courts in France, which served as a foundation for his feature debut, 7 Billion Years Before The End of The World. His second feature film Jelgava ‘94 premiered at Tallinn Black Nights FF 2019, and won 4 national film awards, including Best Director. In 2022 Janis Abele released a documentary short, 81 Meters, which currently is travelling the festival circuit in competition programmes.

Cinematographer Toms Šķēle has finished two feature fictions, several shorts and in 2023 will premiere his debut fiction documentary film, but since 2020 he has started to direct music videos. Short Film about the Importance of Hydration is his debut short film as a director.
