Seagulls squabble over a pack of cigarettes. A mushroom-dealer is galloping into the sunset on his horse. A customer is sleeping naked on the meat counter. They are all residents of Kopli, Tallinn, where chaos, individualism, inflation, and tech advancements are part of the daily circus. An urban nature documentary “Kopli with Love” observes the absurdities of life through quirky humour while examining post-Soviet landscapes and their inhabitants. Get ready for this animated extravaganza.

Sander Joon, an Estonian film director, is known for award-winning animations Velodrool, Moulinet, Sounds Good, and the Oscars-shortlisted Sierra (2022). He also taught animation at the Estonian Academy of Arts. In 2023, he was honored with the Young Cultural Figure award by the Estonian president for his contributions to Estonian culture.
Aurelia Aasa, founder of AAA Creative, leads one of Estonia’s fastest-growing animation companies. Notable works include Sierra (2022) that made history as the first Estonian animation shortlisted at the Oscars. She recently wrapped production of the short film Miisufy. Upcoming projects include shorts Yummy & Offside as well as Sander Joon’s animated feature comedy.
