The end of the 80s of the last century in Latvia, the winds of change can be felt in the air. The free-thinking, socially active and charismatic thirty-year-old Alicija of Polish origin has just happily married Ilgvars, a conservative mathematics professor twenty years her senior. Ignoring her husband’s concerns, Alicija, encouraged by her close friends and colleagues, actively engages in the activities of the Popular Front and runs for the position of a member of the Supreme Council. However, achievements also bring complications – Alicija receives an anonymous letter and is faced with a tough choice of whom to trust.

Ilze Kunga- Melgaile is an experienced short film director and My Freedom is her first feature. Having had a successful career in the baking industry for many years, she completely changed her life by starting her studies at the Saint Petersburg State University of Film and Television and then moving on to film directing. Ilze is passionate about powerful stories and she excels in working with actors.
Having a profound background in advertising and marketing, Elina has been a part of Tasse Film since 2019, working as a production supervisor, assistant producer, as well as post- production supervisor. Currently, she is managing a number of film projects of different genres in various stages of development. Elina has studied Film and Contemporary Audiovisual Media at the University of Groningen, the Netherlands.
