Bill, Bobo and Pontus, fathers of three teenage girls, are chaperoning their kids’ class trip to an isolated archipelago. Although everyone involved – parents, children, camp staff – has the very best intentions, some situations they simply couldn’t have foreseen. Tension between the generations rises rapidly, and everyone’s composure begins to crumble. As resentment and old memories interlock, the parents turn into kids, and the kids want to play at being adults. And soon there’s no more telling: who is in charge, and who is in danger?

A reunion of middle-aged men with youth and adolescence through unpredictable twists and turns, as they get to know their children – and themselves – anew. What does modern-day parenting look like from the adults’ point of view, considering children know their rights? Schulman quips: not particularly well. Bringing together Sweden’s best-known acting talent, the director offers a socio-anthropological analysis of a microcosm of society, without losing the lightness of the genre nor the Nordic wit and sharpness. The isolated rocks turn into “hunger games”, with a gust of the wisdom of Another Round (2020) by Thomas Vinterberg barging in. Sweden’s submission for the Academy Awards as Best International Feature is a film that promises an innocent sitcom, but quickly fools even the most critical know-it-alls.
