World movie stars, local talents, experimental short films and special screenings for children – tickets for all RIGA International Film Festival (RIGA IFF) events are now available! Every day between 16 and 26 October, the festival invites audiences to embark on bold cinematic adventures. Tickets for screenings at Splendid Palace, Forum Cinemas and the National Library of Latvia, as well as 4 ticket bundles and festival passes, will be available from 16 September on the festival website rigaiff.lv and at Biļešu Serviss box offices.
RIGA IFF Director Liene Treimane invites viewers to dive into a whirlwind of transformative cinema, discovering among nearly 100 films the ones that speak to them most. She also points out that many of the RIGA IFF selections will be screened for the first – and often only – time in Latvian cinemas during the festival.
“The Riga International Film Festival is the largest film event in Latvia, both in terms of audience reach and its significance for cinema lovers and creators alike. This is where we get to meet the cinema of tomorrow. Audiences will have the chance to see films premiered recently at the world’s most prestigious festivals and discover hidden gems of auteur cinema. Meanwhile, local filmmakers will have the opportunity to showcase their latest creations – feature films, short films and series still in production – to international juries and expert panels.
It truly is a festival – a celebration, a marathon and the high point of the season. We are honoured and proud to continue growing alongside our partners of 12 years and to make Riga’s presence on the world cinema stage ever more prominent.”
For 11 days and nights, RIGA IFF will present not only the latest auteur cinema from Europe and beyond, but also some of the most talked-about and remarkable films by renowned directors such as Yorgos Lanthimos, Lynne Ramsay, Luca Guadagnino, Kelly Reichardt, Richard Linklater, Jafar Panahi and many more. A dazzling constellation of Hollywood stars will grace cinema screens – Emma Stone and Jesse Plemons (Bugonia), Jennifer Lawrence and Robert Pattinson (Die, My Love), Josh O’Connor (The Mastermind), Julia Roberts, Andrew Garfield and Ayo Edebiri (After the Hunt), as well as Margaret Qualley, Ethan Hawke and Andrew Scott (Blue Moon), joined by many other brilliant screen icons. The RIGA IFF programme also includes films showcased and awarded at some of the world’s most prestigious festivals – such as Cannes, the Berlinale, Sundance, Rotterdam and others – along with several titles submitted by their countries for consideration in the Academy Award for Best International Feature Film category.
Alongside the acclaimed Hollywood films already mentioned, the RIGA IFF programme will feature highlights from Nordic cinema, prominent voices of German-speaking filmmakers and the finest of European children’s and family films, as well as celebrate the premieres of several Latvian productions. Looking back at film history, audiences will have the opportunity to experience the legendary works of the iconic Coppola dynasty in digitally restored versions, revisit Paris across different eras as captured by French New Wave directors or witness it reflected in the miniature masterpieces of acclaimed filmmakers spanning nearly a century. Meanwhile, the RIGA IFF competition programmes will showcase the latest cinema from the Baltic Sea region, the distinctive worlds of Baltic music videos and a curated feast of international and Latvian short films.
Audiences will discover a unique cinematic experience in the hidden gems of the RIGA IFF programme – films that have not yet stepped into the spotlight, but whose artistic quality shines through their distinctive stories, unrestrained cinematic forms and powerful emotions that can best be delivered in a festival setting. As a welcome escape from the everyday, the programme offers touching love stories, timeless cinematic formats and striking artistic visions along with screen adventures that explore ecological themes and invite audiences into other cultures, traditions and eras. Meanwhile, those seeking more intense experiences can look forward to psychological dramas and thrillers that explore society on the knife’s edge and expose human nature to the bone.
Tickets for all screenings can be purchased on the festival’s website, rigaiff.lv, as well as at Biļešu serviss sales points. With the full programme now announced, 4-ticket packs are also going on sale, giving you the opportunity to get four tickets to any of the screenings (excluding Opening Night and RIGA IFF AWARDS) for a special price. Beginning 14 October, tickets and additional information about the RIGA IFF programme will also be available at the festival’s information centre, located next to the Splendid Palace cinema.
