Since his graduation film Six Feet Above, which won Grand Prix at 33rd ISFF Tous Courts, practically every piece by Jānis Ābele has made a good succesful festival circuit. With his work, Jānis Ābele always finds a way to be interesting both for film festival programmes and general audience. His most renowned film without a doubt is Jelgava ‘94, the first ever Latvian fiction feature to be streamed on Netflix. In addition to that it made a good local box-office run and won 4 National film prizes including the Best Director award.
Marta Romanova-Jēkabsone is a Latvian producer known for international collaborations on award-winning films like Ruch and Norie, Bille, and Soviet Milk. She is currently working on historical dramas Escape Net, Brothers’ War, and Our Erika, while developing new projects, including Things Washed Ashore. Marta is a recent alumna of ApostLab, the ACE Mentorship Programme EU, and the ZFF Academy.
