The studio Studija Kokles was founded in 2019 by art historian Sniedze Kāle as a family-based initiative and is creatively led by director and artist Kārlis Vītols. Dedicated to artistic freedom and the support of emerging talent, the studio is currently producing Vītols’ animated feature The Northern Star and Ella Mežule’s debut short The Nature of Tide. The studio focuses on family-friendly films that celebrate cultural and historical diversity, combined with a distinctive and sophisticated visual style. Specializing in 2D animation and collaborating with experienced animators, Studija Kokles is an ideal partner for artistic co-production projects and related service work.

Sniedze Kāle graduated as an Art Historian from the Latvian Academy of Arts in 2008 and spent fifteen years curating art and education programs in the field of fine arts. Since 2020, she has devoted herself fully to animation production. Today, as the head and chief producer of Studija Kokles, she envisions the studio as a platform where artistic talent can flourish and audiences can discover cinema that inspires, enriches, and opens new perspectives on the world.
Inga Prauliņa is an award-winning Latvian animation producer, director, and educator with over 25 years of international experience. She has worked on acclaimed films such as Les Triplettes de Belleville, Kirikou et la Sorcière, and Chico & Rita, and produced original works including Lost in Snow and The Little Devils, winner of the Latvian National Film Award Lielais Kristaps. Alongside her production work, she has shaped new generations of animators as a lecturer at the Art Academy of Latvia.
