SHORT RIGA Test Screenings announces the lineup of twelve shorts for its 2025 edition

SHORT RIGA Test Screenings, the longest-running section of the Riga International Film Festival (16–26 October) industry programme RIGA IFF FORUM, has announced the lineup for its 11th edition. Twelve exciting, short films in the works-in-progress stage will be presented to a panel of industry professionals and an audience, receiving in-depth evaluations, valuable feedback, and the chance to win a consultation prize from the world sales company Lights On. 

SHORT RIGA Test Screenings – a one-of-a-kind industry event in the Baltics dedicated to the in-depth evaluation of short films – returns this October for its 11th edition, further strengthening the development and quality of short film production in the region. Curated by Czech festival programmer and curator Lenka Tyrpáková, twelve outstanding short film projects from Latvia, Lithuania, Estonia, and Croatia will be screened in full for sales agents, distributors, and major festival representatives, showcasing the diverse possibilities of audiovisual storytelling in short form. In addition, participants benefit from pitching training, editing consultations with leading Latvian film editor Andris Grants, and one-to-one meetings with international industry experts.

In two pitching sessions on 24 and 25 October, projects will be presented to an expert industry panel. The panel includes Simone Bardoni (Italy), distributor and sales agent at Lights On; Andris Grants (Latvia), film editor; Léo Ortuno (France), short film coordinator for La Semaine de la Critique in Cannes; Léa Alia Triboulet (France/Germany), producer and distribution consultant; and Sari Volanen (Finland), Commissioner of Short Films at Yle, the Finnish Broadcasting Company. Experts will provide in-depth professional feedback and practical notes to increase each film’s chances of a successful festival run. One short film will also be selected to receive a Lights On prize – fully tailored distribution consultation by the Italy-based sales company.

SHORT RIGA Test Screenings events will take place from 23 to 25 October in Riga, Latvia. Hosted at cinemas K.Suns and Splendid Palace, the festival’s industry section RIGA IFF FORUM – a richly packed agenda of events tailored to film professionals – offers a welcoming and well-rounded meeting place for building connections and forging new collaborations.
